There have been reports of good numbers og tog on the jetties. Just remember the limit is 1 fish at 14 inches, Most tackle shops will be stocking green crabs which are the best bait.

Striped Bass

The best fishing is at night. The night bite has been good on eels.the daytime striper fishery has become very quiet statewide.

Canyons

The Spencer and Lindenkohl Canyons seem to be the hot spot for yellowfin so Far. Scattered blue and white marlin are being caught and released. Reports that the Spencer and Lindekohl Canyons were crowded with boats. It seemed to be the weekly hot spot. .Blue marlin have been caught in the Wilmington

Fluke

Fluke are being caught in the back bays at Wildwood, mostly short with a few keepers thrown in. The fishing is going well at Reef Site 11 in Delaware Bay and at the Old Grounds. the keeper ratio is better at these spots.

Fluke are being caught in Somers Point in the back ba on Gulp and Minnows with several fish in the 4lb range Best fishing seems to be from Somers Point to the Longport toll bridge and On the Margate side from the Margate Bridge to the GE Inlet.

Back-bay anglers are getting their share of summer flounder all day, but not many keepers. The bigger fish seemed to gather along the edges of the deeper drop-offs like along channels, and the sloughs were blanketed with shorts. Bluefish, surprisingly larger ones 3 to 5 pounds, worked all over the bay, and striped bass held in the bay. But the stripers were often dialed up along the bridges on spots. Kingfish roamed the surf, and not much was heard about fishing from the shore. In the ocean many of the sharks seemed to move north, but smaller ones were around. Bluefin tuna were boated at places like Lemke’s Canyon and the 750 Square. Noting happening at the Cigar. Everyone trolled for the bluefins, instead of chunking. The northern canyons such as the Lindy and the Carteret to the Hudson seemed to be places for yellowfin tuna and bigeye tuna that were being caught. Mahi mahi were occasionally picked up. Blue marlin were dusted here and there. The southern canyons also produced the tuna and big game. Canyon fishing seemed to start happening, and many anglers seemed yet to make the trip. Catches could continue, but go now to not miss out. Have a safe and Happy 4th of July !

Waters warmed, and the ocean along the shore reached 70 degrees, changing some fishing. Fluke fishing somewhat improved on the ocean, because of the temps. A few of the flatties and a few sea bass, a bit of an improvement in the angling.

Fluke fishing in the past days probably wasn’t as fast as previously, but the fish still gave up action, and the number of keepers changed day to day. That depended on conditions or whether winds and tides created good drifts, and trips on the vessel mainly found the fish around .

Warm waters were slowing down ocean striped bass. Big blues could be chummed off of Cape May, and small blues popped up in lots of different waters. Bottom-fishing pounced on healthy catches of sea bass and, in a little deeper waters, ling and cod

Canyon trips dialed in to offshore fishing at the Hudson Canyon, found some large sharks and tons of action with blue sharks, browns and duskies, though no mako reported.

A bigeye was hooked at the cigar on the troll. The tuna, a 74-inch bigeye weighing 219 pounds back at the dock. Good luck my friends and send in your pictures.

The only problem is they’re mostly throw backs. Recent hot spots are Rainbow, Corson’s Inlet.

King Fish have begun to come in strong off of Ocean City and Wildwood, hitting on Bloodworm on incoming tides. Fishing out in the Old Grounds and the Cape may Reef site 11 is getting stronger with some nice weight.

Offshore , mako, blue and thresher shark fishing is picking up in the Northern areas at the Misty Blue wreak and the Cigar. We are also finding blue fin tuna in the same area as the sharks on the troll with feathers, plugs and Zukers.

Have a good weekend fishing boys and send in some pictures of what your catching we will post them on the site.

The 29th Annual South Jersey Shark Tournament is on right now from June 10th to the 13th. This is the premier Shark Tournament in New Jersey and the Mid Atlantic region. Up to 200 boats with up to 1000 anglers will be trying for that BIG one. Last years available prize money reached a record $336,000. dollars. History shows the best chances for a good catch is in the productive waters off of Cape May. Here’s a link to the website where you can check out more about it.

Aside from the tournament news, Stripers are still running steady and we’re seeing some Blue Fin Tuna but no Yellow Fin yet. Best chance for a good catch is off the Cape May Reef at the Five Fathom Bank. The ocean is pretty good at the moment with winds from the South west and 2 to 4 foot seas.

That’s all for now. Get out there and try your luck. Be Safe!!
