On Monday Jan 26, 2009 I was recognized with the Philadelphia Sports Living Legend Award at the Philadelphia Sports Writers Association’s 105th annual Award Dinner. What a great time I had seeing some old friends from the past. The sports writers in Philadelphia where always good to me. They did their job well reporting on our games and most of the time had good things to say on how I played.
Brad Lidge was awareded Outstanding Professional Athlete of 2008. When you’re perfect, you have to be the best. Brad Lidge was perfect in 2008, 41 saves in 41 opportunities during the regular season and then seven more in the post-season. I told Brad Hey I used to make 48 save in one night it not easy!
Hey I truly respect what Brad did and the role he played in bringing a Championship Back to the great City of Philadelphia.
Hey Only the Lord Saves more then Brad!!
Last monday I played in the Gene Hart Memorial Golf outing. What a great time it was seeing old friends. The Hart famliy does a outstanding job along with Temple University. Proceeds from the outing benefit the new HDR Brachytherapy Suite within the Cancer Center at Temple University Hospital.
Gene was such a big part of the Flyers Family. I had many laughs with him and miss him dearly.
Another old friend that I had the pleasure of seeing that day was Marcel Pelletier. We go way back and I wouldn’t be where I am today without him.
