NHL SPORTS LEGEND PARTNERS WITH GREATER NORRISTOWN POLICE ATHLETIC LEAGUE
Bernie Parent, the Philadelphia Flyers Hall of Fame goaltender who backstopped the team to the 1974 and 1975 Stanley Cup, has selected the Greater Norristown Police Athletic League (GNPAL) as the beneficiary for a very special contest. Beginning on Friday, August 27th, fans will have the opportunity to enter a drawing to win Parent’s original locker stall from the Spectrum. Proceeds from this once in a lifetime opportunity will be used to fund the continuing growth of programs and facilities at Greater Norristown PAL.
As a program center that serves the Greater Norristown Area’s diverse population, GNPAL is challenged to address youth and family needs at all levels every day. The center, located near Elmwood Park in Norristown, offers numerous high quality programs to area youth at a remarkably low cost.
GNPAL offers a wide array of athletic and recreational programs. The wrestling, boxing, basketball and Tae Kwon Do programs continue to grow and we reach hundreds of youth throughout the Norristown area. Many of these programs have allowed youth to participate in tournaments across the state and the nation.
On the education front, GNPAL continues to lead the way with programs such as science nights, family reading programs and the Harry P. Mirabile, Sr. Scholarship program. The organization also provides support to Norristown’s Truancy Abatement Initiative.
As a provider of services, GNPAL offers a variety of parenting programs and activities designed to strengthen families through a variety of partner agencies.
Greater Norristown PAL is an independent, registered chapter of National PAL and has been providing programs and services for over 35 years.
The contest will only be offered online at GNPAL’s website, www.greaternorristownpal.org. Instructions on how to enter will be provided on the organization’s home page. Each entry costs $39.00 and all entrants will receive an autographed 8 x 10 photo of Bernie. A winning entry will be selected at the GNPAL 10th Annual International Food and Wine Festival on September 9th at Plymouth Country Club.
For more information, please contact Greater Norristown PAL at 610-278-8040 or at bernielocker@greaternorristownpal.org. Greater Norristown PAL is a 501 (c) (3) charitable organization and is also registered with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Bureau of Charitable Organizations.
