I’m excited to announce my involvement in my newest charitable endeavor, the Liguori Academy.
The Liguori Academy is a bold new type of High School in Philadelphia. The City’s most disengaged ninth graders will enter a program of aggressive academic growth with personalized curriculum combined with project based specific job training. These are the kids that will otherwise be lost and I am helping the Liguori Academy save them.
The Liguori Academy’s mission is to empower students who are the most at-risk academically in the greater Philadelphia area by encouraging their abilities rather than emphasizing their deficits. The Academy’s comprehensive program of personalized learning integrated with projects co-developed by business and industry partners will provide the motivation and support necessary to ensure success.
I am proud to be one of the founding board members. And with your financial help, we will open in September 2016.

I am honored to have the opportunity to help out a great, up-and-coming, non-profit organization, You Too Animal Rescue, whose main goal is to save, care for, and ultimately adopt stray animals and place them in loving homes.
As an animal lover myself, I thank the members of You Too Animal Rescue for everything that they do. I will be attending their fundraising event at The Rink at Lehigh Valley, located at 3323 7th Street, Whitehall, PA 18052 on Saturday, January 17, 2014 as not only a supporter, but I will be holding an autograph signing from 1pm to 3 pm in which ALL PROCEEDS will go directly to You Too Animal Rescue.
Here’s a bit of information about You Too Animal Rescue:
“After three years of a few volunteers working from their homes, You Too Animal Rescue has recently been officially established as a non-profit organization. In 2014, the small group rescued more than 175 cats and kittens as well as 10 dogs. Any money raised over the years went entirely to help offset some of the vet bills. Food and all other expenses were covered by the volunteers.
Now, with the non-profit status, You Too Animal Rescue will be able to apply for grants and give receipts for tax-deductible donations. They are setting up a donation site on Facebook and also on a website, which is currently being developed. And, hopefully, they will be able to get a building where the animals can be fostered and be on display for adoption. As of now, Endless Supply Company in Wysox has been kind enough to put the adoptable orphans on display, as well as sponsor fundraisers and donate food and other items.
You Too Animal Rescue is thrilled to have Bernie Parent help kick off 2015 by promoting their organization, raffle items and their second annual hockey game against the Flyers’ Alumni Saturday, April 4th at 2pm at the Rink at Lehigh Valley.
In addition to the fun and exciting fund raisers coming up in the new year, You Too Animal Rescue is going to focus on their main goal – spaying and neutering! There are staggering numbers of homeless cats and dogs throughout Pennsylvania and the entire country. Unless something is done to break the pattern, shelters will continue remain overcrowded and thousands will continue to suffer.
They are very grateful for all the help they have received and thank everyone involved in their success. After all, they couldn’t do what they do without you, too!”
Let’s help You Too Animal Rescue achieve continuous success for this great cause! Come out and see us on January 17th!
It’s been months since we’ve seen an ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, but I vowed to keep the awareness alive and well after all of the hype calmed down.
On Sunday, November 23, 2014, I will be running in the Philadelphia Half Marathon on behalf of the ALS Hope Foundation.
Help me raise money and continuous awareness for this great cause!

Malvern, PA (July 1, 2014) – Malvern Institute is pleased to announce the new addition to the team, Philadelphia Flyers Hall of Fame goaltender, Bernie Parent. We have been working with Bernie for several years. He has been our keynote speaker at several events and has spent time with our patients talking about his life in recovery.
Mr. Parent has spent the last 35 years of his life in recovery. After many struggles, trials and tribulations with addiction in his earlier years, he understands that addiction is a daily battle that must be tackled head-on with the help of a strong support system. Bernie began his recovery much like many of the patients at the Malvern Institute and believes wholeheartedly in our methods and philosophy. Most importantly, he connects with our patients, forms bonds, and acts as a role model to any and all people that struggle with drug and alcohol abuse, as he was able to take control of his addiction and come out on top of the game.
About Malvern Institute:
A leader in the addiction field, Malvern Institute, founded in 1948, operates a total of 167 beds for Inpatient Drug and Alcohol treatment located in both Willow Grove and Malvern, PA. We provide an evidence-based model of clinical care along with a 12-step approach that will provide engagement and monitoring for at least 90 days. Malvern is licensed by the Pennsylvania Bureau of Drug and Alcohol and the Commission for Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.
