The Flyers’ turnaround from the NHL’s worst team last season to one of the four left standing this season was nothing short of incredible and makes me feel proud to be part of the Flyers organization.
Most of the credit goes to my good friend general manager Paul Holmgren, who perfectly executed his off-season game plan by adding forwards Scott Hartnell, Joffrey Lupul and Daniel Briere and defenseman Kimmo Timonen to a promising core of young players that includes forwards Mike Richards, Jeff Carter, R.J. Umberger, Scottie Upshall and defenseman Braydon Coburn.
We have a lot of good hockey coming our way in Philadelphia over the next few years. This young team showed a lot of heart and talent.
I will continue to blog as I watch the Stanly Cup Finals but now is the off season even for us retired players. I will keep everyone posted on what I am doing for the summer from fishing reports to personal appearances.

bernie i think you can never retire in you heart. next year will be great.
This year was totally awesome! To see the determination and guys battling back from injuries in the playoffs was amazing. I hope the Flyers can pick up a solid, but fast, defenseman in the off season…hopefully that will be the key piece in bringing us the Stanley Cup again. I was born 2 months after the guys won the 2nd cup and all I got to see was videos of it (truly a thrill)! This goalie girl is just waiting to see it in person!!! Ha.
Great site Bernie!
ah someone else found your site. it was an exciting season
